It’s no secret that I love dogs. My facebook page and instagram is full of photos of my dog Leroy so it was sort of pre-destined that I’ll venture into pet photography also. Here are some photos from my last session with dogs. Meet Bash, Cookie, and Boot. I prefer big dogs but these scruffies are so cute!
The shihtzus, Bash and Cookie are sisters and are over a year old while Boot the ever energetic puppy is a 6 month old pug. Bash and Boot lives with Ben while Cookie lives with his girlfriend Cess. Cess is actually a sorority sister and was one of the first to message me after I posted an ad looking for canine models in the sorority’s facebook group.
We started the session with a long walk from the sunken garden to the amphitheater. Bash was a trooper and walked all the way. Boot is still learning how to walk and follow the pack while Cookie walked and then flopped down every now and then. Cookie girl certainly didn’t care for long walks and I had to carry her, much to her owner’s embarrassment. I told Cess that I didn’t mind, Cookie was very light unlike my dog Leroy who is too heavy to carry even when he was Cookie’s size.
Upon reaching the amphitheater the dogs had a blast zooming from point A to B with Bash showing Boot her ‘hairy’ moves. When shooting dogs it’s best to let them run around first to tire them out. Bash and Cookie got tired pretty quickly while Boot didn’t really stop till we were about to end the session.
I didn’t think I’d like pugs because of their small size but Boot definitely won me over. Isn’t he just the cutest? His face is not as wrinkly and his big tongue just cracks me up. It’s so big for his small body. His energy level is not something to be scoffed at though. Boot lives up to his breed’s name ‘Multo in Parvo’ or a lot of dog in a small space, I swear I got tired just watching him run around, inspecting this and that.
And then we have Cookie, the easy going gal who flopped on the ground most of time. Look at those eyes, isn’t she pretty? Let me warn you though that there is a rule when giving Cookie a treat: give it to her quick because this girl would huff and puff if you wait too long. ;)
