An old friend was in the city so we arranged to meet up and just catch up with each other. It’s been years since I last saw her although we do chat from time to time. We met at a time when my life pretty much revolved around drinking, smoking, and school org meetings. We had dinner at 8065 Bagnet, which I chose because I knew my friend would appreciate the laid back vibe and remind us of our days in UP. They serve calorie ridden, heart attack inducing, but very delicious bagnet and I was in the mood for greasy and fatty food.
Greasy food pairs really well with red horse, our beer of choice in college (it still is my beer of choice today) and true to form my friend asked for a bottle. I laughed and told her I’ll have a bottle of Tanduay ice instead. It was a Sunday night and I didn’t have work but I didn’t want to get plastered. Nowadays I keep drinking to a minimum — special occasions or night outs when travelling. As expected I got ragged on about choosing a lighter drink and so I caved in, for old time’s sake.
