The 4s takes kick ass photos, even in lowlight.

Heart is 8 months pregnant with Matthew. She’s pretty excited with the baby and it showed in the photos. It was easy take photos of her too, even if it was just a spur of the moment shoot.

 As for me… it wasn’t that bad. I’m happy with how the photos came out but I could definitely do better. And that I guess, is what I like about photography. Every session you take away a lesson or two, the learning never stops.

I have a thing for wildflowers and I’ll never get tired of taking pictures of these wild beauties. Often times they’re small and I have to kneel down to get a closer look but I don’t mind. Looking at them evoke childhood memories of me and my cousins playing by the bay, creating sand cakes with wild flowers as decoration. Happy times.

Flew to Caticlan last weekend to hit the shores of Boracay and bond with my cousins. It rained and the waves were bigger than usual but I still had a blast. This is probably my shortest visit ever. I promised my cousins I’ll stay a bit longer next year. Piso fare, be kind to me! haha.

So off I went to the beach, with my camera in tow. I wasn’t alone for long though. This cute and naughty dog came along for a walk on the beach and even played fetch with me. Yes, fetch!  Haha. It’s not everyday that I get to play with a dog who knows how to fetch. I was reaching for a rubber ball thinking its color would pop out in photos and give a nice contrast when the dog snatched the ball out of my hand. Worried he’d swallow the ball I demanded he give it back to me, and to my surprise, he did! He had this ‘come on, play with me’ expression on his face so I tossed the ball and he chased after the ball and then gave it back to me! A-maaazing!

I had so much fun in Malapascua. I will go back. I promise.

Wingman stays on top of the list because it’s near our place but Dillinger is the first restaurant that comes to mind if I’m craving for buffalo wings and when I want to avoid the crowd (which is most of the time). No photos of the food this time, we were too busy sharing crazy stories– from Jet’s medical duties, bad gaydars, too much gaydar, to Pearl talking to cats, a side-effect of working from home most of the time.

We were in a hurry to catch the sunset at Manila Bay after exploring intramuros and I guess it wasn’t just us. This bride, her groom, and their whole crew were there to take advantage of the picturesque sunset.

This is the second time that I’ve seen the sunset at Manila Bay, a first with Spence in tow, and I’m still amazed at the burst of colors–from blue, yellow, to yellowish-orange with a purple hue. The smell is a bit off putting but my golly, the colors are really gorgeous!

I have been to Quiapo just a handful of times in my entire stay here in Manila. I have an aversion to crowds so I tend to stay clear of places with a lot of people and yet at the same time I am fascinated with the energy drummed up by crowds. I remember back in college when I used to cover rallies and anti tuition fee increase campaigns where the energy was intense and if it was a color it will probably be a vibrant red.

The energy this time is of a different vibe.  Steady and clear, it pulsated all throughout the walk, making me forget about the scorching heat or that I was supposed to prepare for another weekend trip.

I caught a glimpse of some flagellants  too and it was a sight that I didn’t expect at all. There were only a few but it was enough to put me in a few seconds of shock. Their backs were red, blood dripping down… I couldn’t help but flinch at the thought of how painful it was.

On our way to the church we saw a lot of vendors selling statues of the black Nazarene. Upon seeing the statues all I could think of was that this is where I’ll go and buy one in case I accidentally break the statue in the sala. I often bump into the table where the statue is when I’m resetting the wifi router. It’s not mine, if this was my place you won’t see one at all.
