I didn’t think it would happen this year but I finally moved to my own room. Yay! I’ve wanted to do this for the longest time but never had the energy or chance to do so. It’s the same apartment still, just a different room. Our apartment’s principal tenant moved out 2 weeks ago so I grabbed the chance and got the whole room for myself. Early this year I started looking for a new place in hopes of having my own space but didn’t really get that far. I didn’t have the patience to walk all day checking out condos and apartments. I sort of gave up after checking out some of the condos in the village. Haha, I know. I am lazy.
But what do you know, I get rewarded for giving up that early. Instead of waiting for next year I get to have my own room now. Like now. Insert photo of me grinning like a Cheshire cat here.
The new room’s been keeping me busy these past 2 weeks, on top of new projects, travel stories to write, and photos to sift through. It’s been a crazy month and I have a feeling it’s going to get crazier. Hello sleepless days and working weekends.:p
This is how the room looked before:
This is how it looks now:
You’ll know it’s my room if you see this sign. Hehe! Bought this at Tickle 2 years ago and it was the first thing I moved to the new room, almost like it was a territory marker or something.
After two coats of floor wax, new curtains, and a new desk. New curtain rods, blinds, and ac will be added next month. I’m thinking of putting up some canvass prints too for that blank white wall on the right. I found a diy article about printing photos on canvass and I can’t wait to start that project. I have a few photos in mind already although I have a feeling I’ll change my mind again after I get back from Socsargen. Like I always do after a trip.
And here’s one of my best buys to date, a desk that I got for only P1,500 at one of the furniture shops in Libertad. Now if only I could do something about the ugly wires. I want a wireless setup. Seriously.” href=”http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6203/6070713098_ed32f9c77f_b.jpg” rel=”lightbox[5652]“>
Notice the absence of clutter. Pearl said it’s too clean. Is it? I love it. And yes, I have to repaint the walls and cabinets. It’s going be white from ceiling to floor and then I’m thinking of giving the cabinets a bluish gray color. I played around with the idea of black cabinets but my friends say that black is not a color for a bedroom. I still want something black in the room so as soon as the walls and cabinets are done I’m giving that small table on the right a makeover.

And the last photo for this post is my to-do list notebook that I keep on my desk always and the Found and Lost album that I’ve been playing nonstop since I bought it last Saturday at Conspiracy. I highly recommend this cd. I knew I had to get a copy after hearing Fando & Lis play that night. Their songs are very cinematic with bittersweet tones. I love them!!!” href=”http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6185/6070711520_a72cc0b25e_b.jpg” rel=”lightbox[5652]“>
On top of the small table (I bought this table for 500 pesos at Evangelista, Makati almost 3 years ago) are some of my books, lippies, my favorite lotion (not in the picture is the mint bare it all cream from venus and mars), and my favorite scent at the moment. The toiletries used to be on this table after Calene suggested I use the table as a dresser but it looked too messy to me so I moved all the lotions, yes I hoard lotions, and all the other stuff back to the cabinet where I can’t see them. I didn’t know I can be this obsessive compulsive and freaked out a little bit when I caught myself arranging my clothes by color (for my growing collection of boxer shorts), sleeves (for shirts and tanks), and length (for dresses). Lol.

I’m not satisfied yet with how the room looks, specially the blank white walls but this will have to do for now. Will post more pics after I’ve repainted the walls and once the canvass prints are up.
