Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte punches Sheriff

Davao City Sara Duterte lost her temper after a demolition order was carried out despite her request for a 2 hour extension so residents can leave the site. The demolition order is in bad taste considering that most of Davao is still reeling from the effects of the flash flood last Tuesday.

Some people, mostly not Dabawenyos are questioning Sarah’s move. My take? I applaud her. I can’t help it. She’s so bad-ass! Like father, like daughter jud!

To quote Carlos Conde:

With mayors in other cities demolishing urban poor w/ impunity, what davao’s sara duterte did smacks (sorry cant help it) of political will.

being part of the higher echelon does not give anyone the right to step on someone’s dignity through public embarrassment..

if duterte cannot respect her fellow human being, she then doesn’t deserve a tiny amount of respect ..

no matter what her intention was, good or evil, for doing so, violence cannot be a perfect substitute to diplomacy..it’s true that this country needs tough leaders to go through “tuwid na landas”..but we don”t need abusive leaders of these kinds..

duterte deserves to be charged before the proper authority, the DILG, of “conduct unbecoming of public officials”..

to some, what she did seemed funny and impressive.. but to a civilized nation, it is “barbaric”..

Demolitions are almost all of the time barbaric and brutal. Sara Duterte asked for 2 hours so she could talk to the people in the area and avoid unnecessary violence. What is 2 hours? If the sheriff waited for 2 hours children and many more would have been spared from the brutality of the demolition.

It’s tough leadership and it has always worked for Davao. Most of us Dabawenyos are happy with how the city has flourished under the leadership of Sarah and Rody Duterte. Maybe you should try living in Davao first.
