Sayang ngayon lang tayo nagkatagpo…

I want somebody to share, share the rest of my life, my innermost thoughts…

Goodbye my almost lover, goodbye my hopeless dream…

Art imitates life. Following that logic it could only mean that love is very much connected to music. People inlove would be singing happy and sappy songs while the other half of the population keeps their ears tuned to songs for the brokenhearted… or “mga kantang sawi”.

I used to scoff at these songs back when I was young and had other pursuits in mind. Now I might as well scoff at myself. For days I’ve been channeling happy and sad thoughts at the same time. When I left Davao I knew what I was leaving behind: everything. But leaving behind and forgetting are two different things, much like the north and south pole, left and right, yin and yang. You cannot leave and forget…right away. Remember the saying absence makes the heart grow fonder? It’s true. And what sucks is that I laughed at that particular saying real hard, thinking it’s just an excuse for sappy old fools. Tsk tsk. It bit me in the ass real hard, forcing me to reflect and ask: what else did I brazenly scoffed at during my crass and youthful years?

So much for thinking I was an adult. Sigh.

Maybe 10 years from now I’ll get to read this post and laugh at my foolishness, but for the meantime, here are the music videos I listen to over and over again when I’m feeling down and yes… My heart is in need of a bypass operation.
