I am a free wheeler when it comes to phone calls. Living in mintal means no direct access to telephones, I can only rely on my old trusty mobile phone and the up mindanao’s telephone.
Am I complaining? Not really, I only have to go to the guard post, ask the guard if I could use the phone, dial nine and poof.
What I miss though is browsing through the yellow pages. The phone near the guard is so old and has failed to upgrade with a directory. Yellow pages yield a lot of information, where the nearest bakeshop is, the hardware or the nearest taxi services.
We Filipinos are not so reliant on the yellow pages, unlike in the states where they have online services like the San Diego Yellow pages, with detailed descriptions of all the establishments you could possibly imagine in the area.
Maybe in a few years or more the Philippines will be able to do that, but until then, I will have to content myself with asking my friends where to go. *wink wink.
